Hong Wai 洪慧: Alternative Landscapes - Fragrant Mountains 異山水 系列

In the Alternative Landscape series, contemporary Chinese ink artist Hong Wai executes a profound personal deconstruction, simultaneously transforming the human body and the traditional landscape. Within classical Chinese aesthetics, the landscape (mountain and water) represents the highest spiritual and moral metaphor. Here, Hong Wai secretly subverts this revered tradition, deconstructing the rigid, patriarchal gaze by reshaping the mountains into voluptuous, feminine bodies.

While traditional Chinese geomancy views the energy forces within mountain chains as the embodiment of the dragon, Hong Wai reimagines this cosmic entity as an undulating form of femininity, intricately veiled within the sensuous lines of women’s lingerie.

This specific body of work now serves a historic secondary purpose: it forms the foundational training data for the Soul Mates Machine Learning Artist Program.
